New Delhi, May 23: The process of exchanging ₹2,000 notes will start from today in all banks of the country. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced this three days ago. Customer will be able to get currency notes of ₹2000 changed in banks or deposited in their accounts till 30 September.
According to RBI, ₹2000 note will remain legal even after 30 September. Reserve Bank Governor Shaktikanta Das said in a press conference a day ago that the existing notes will not be invalid.
According to the guidelines of RBI, no identity card will be required nor will any form have to be filled to change the note.
According to the Reserve Bank, customer will be able to exchange only 10 notes of a maximum value of ₹ 20,000 at a time, but there will be no limit on depositing these notes in the account.
