Lucknow, 11 Jan: To guarantee that no one in the state suffers as a result of the cold wave, the Uttar Pradesh government has donated more than 1,79,740 blankets to the poor in the previous 10 days, as directed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
On January 8, during his visit to Kashi, the chief minister personally visited the night shelters and distributed food and blankets to people in need. He personally gave blankets and food even in Gorakhpur.
The government has distributed 4,66,201 blankets to the needy so far during this cold spell. According to officials here on Wednesday, the blanket distribution programme is still being carried out by the people’s representatives in all 75 districts of the state.
As of January 10, the government has distributed 4,66,201 blankets to the poor and needy, compared to 2,86,740 on January 1, suggesting that 1,79,740 blankets were delivered in just ten days. Lakhimpur received 21,926 blankets, Hardoi received 16629, Bareilly received 12640, Banda received 12546, Maharajganj received 11989, Bulandshahr, 11,414 in Deoria, 11,600 in Ghazipur, 11,570 in Prayagraj, 10,395 in Ballia, 10,288 in Rae Bareli, 10,265 in Unnao, 10,123 in Firozabad, 9,990 in Lucknow, 9,450 in Sitapur, and 9,437 in Shravasti.
