Barabanki, March 03: The Barabanki police has arrested a criminal involved in a robbery case after an encounter on Monday. He has been admitted to the hospital for treatment in an injured condition.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Awadhesh Pratap Singh told in a press conference that on February 21, a robbery incident took place from jeweler Kaushal Jewellers in Ghunghater police station, which was successfully uncovered by the police and one criminal was arrested during the encounter, however, one of his accomplices has absconded. The arrested accused has been identified as Shivam Tiwari, a resident of Pipri Manjha in Gonda district.
During interrogation, he has confessed to the robbery incident from jeweler Ankur Soni in Ghunghater police station area.
Singh further told that a pistol with shell, and one full and one empty cartridges, a motorcycle and looted jewelries have been recovered from the possession of the accused. The criminal injured by the police bullet has been admitted to the hospital for treatment under police custody.
ASP said that the arrested accused is a vicious criminal. More than 16 criminal cases are registered against him in different districts including Lucknow, Barabanki and Gonda. A police team has been deployed to search for his absconding partner.
