New Delhi, July 27: An in-principle approval has been accorded to reserve 10 per cent vacancies for ex-Agniveers in recruitment to the post of Constable (General Duty)/Riflemen in Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Raffles. Also, there will be relaxation in upper age limit and relaxation in physical efficiency test.
The above information was given by Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai in reply to a question in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday.
He informed that the minimum height criteria for the post of Constable (GD) in CAPFs (Male and Female) are as follows. Male is 170 cm while female is 157 in general category.
Minister apprised that for all Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates, a relaxation of 162.5 cms is given to the male, while 150 cm is given to the female. Whereas in all the Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates of North Eastern States, 157 cms male and 147.5 cms women will be given relaxation. On the other hand, in the ST candidates of the districts affected by Left Wing Extremism, 160 cm male and 147.5 female are exempted.
At the same time, a relaxation of 165 cm for male and 155 cm for female will be given to Garhwali, Kumaoni, Dogra, Maratha candidates and candidates from the states/UTs of Assam, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. In the same sequence, a relaxation of 162.5 cms will be given to males and 152.5 cms to females from the northeastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.
At the same time, the Gorkha Territorial Administration (GTA) consists of three sub-divisions of Darjeeling districts namely Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Kurseong, and the following “Mauja” sub-divisions of these districts. These include Lohagarh Tea Garden, Lohagarh Forest, Rangmohan, Barachenga, Panighat, Chhota Adalpur, Pahadun, Sukna Forest, Sukna Part-1, Pantapati Forest-1, Mahanadi Forest, Champasari Forest, Salbari Chhatpart-2, Sitong Forest, Sivok Hill Forest, Male coming from Sivok Forest, Chhota Changa and Nipaniya will get a relaxation of 157 cms while for females there is a relaxation of 152.5 cms.
Relaxation in the minimum height criteria for the recruitment of ex-Agniveers will be done according to their respective category, as mentioned above. At the same time, after completing a period of four years in the Defense Forces, when the first batch of Ex Agniveers will be available for recruitment, it has been decided to give 10 percent horizontal reservation to them (Ex Agniveers) for the post of Constable (GD) / Rifleman.
