New Delhi/Kevadiya, October 31: On the occasion of the 148th birth anniversary of the country’s first Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid floral tributes to him in Kevadiya (Gujarat) today (Tuesday).
President Draupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, union Home Minister Amit Shah, and many dignitaries paid floral tributes in New Delhi.
Remembering him, Prime Minister Modi wrote on X, ‘On the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, we remember his indomitable spirit, visionary politician, and extraordinary dedication. He shaped the destiny of our country. His commitment to national unity continues to guide us. We will always be indebted to his service.
Prime Minister Modi reached the Statue of Unity in Kevadiya in the morning on the second day of his Gujarat tour. Here he paid tribute to the first home minister of the country.
During this, the Prime Minister went down the ramp to the Statue of Unity and offered flowers to Sardar Patel from there. After this, he reached Ekta Nagar and administered the oath of unity to the people present there. A parade has been organised here on the occasion of National Unity Day. In this, the women bikers of CRPF performed amazingly.
The Prime Minister will launch Mera Yuva Bharat, a nationwide organisation of youth, on Patel Jayanti today.

On the other hand, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid floral tributes at his statue in Lucknow. The Defence Minister and Yogi flagged off Run for Unity at the National Unity Day function.
