New Delhi, 08 January: Bird flu has been confirmed in six states of the country including Gujarat. At the same time, bird flu is being suspected due to 16 birds found dead in DDA Park of Hastasal village in Delhi.
However, the samples have been sent for examination to ICAR-NIHSAD lab. Report is awaited. The concerned department has started taking precautionary steps.
Positive samples of avian flu have been found from ICAR-NIHSAD lab in two poultry farms in Panchkula district of Haryana.
Positive specimens have been confirmed to be found in migratory birds in Junagadh district of Gujarat and in crows in Sawai Madhopur, Pali, Jaisalmer and Mohar districts of Rajasthan.
So far, the disease has been confirmed in Kerala, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat.
In the wake of avian flu, the states and UTs have been warned to monitor abnormal deaths in birds and immediately inform them so that necessary measures can be taken rapidly.
Central teams have been deployed to visit the affected states of Kerala, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh for surveillance and epidemiological investigations.
