2 suspended including ‘Exec. Eng’ in overhead water tank collapse incident in UP, orders given to dismiss JE

Lucknow, 29 August: The UP Jal Nigam Rural’s Director General ( DG) Rajshekhar has taken major action in the case of overhead water tank collapse during trial in Sitapur. He has suspended Executive Engineer Alok Patel and Assistant Engineer Vinod in the case of construction of substandard water tank.

While orders have been given to dismiss JE. A high-level investigation is being conducted in this entire case.

Action is underway on the basis of negligence of contractor and other responsible persons.

It is noteworthy that a water tank was constructed in village Chithala of development block Maholi under Jal Jeevan Mission in Sitapur district of UP. It cost Rs 3 crore 75 lakh. Last Sunday, a trial was conducted for the supply of drinking water through a water tank. During the trial, the water tank built at a cost of crores collapsed.

Along with the water tank, the boundary wall also completely collapsed. It was a matter of luck that the guard present at a short distance did not get hurt, otherwise a big accident could have happened.

In this case, SDM Abhinav Yadav investigated at the district level and submitted the complete report to the District Magistrate. This report was sent to the government by the District Magistrate. On the basis of the report, UP Water Corporation Rural Director General Rajshekhar has issued orders for the above action.
