Sambhal, November 24: Three youths have died and several policemen have been injured in stone pelting, arson and firing during the re-survey of Jama Masjid in the district on Sunday. In view of the tense situation, a large number of police forces have been deployed on the spot. Commissioner Anjaneya Kumar Singh and DIG Muniraj along with other police officials have visited the area. Police is taking action by identifying the stone pelters.
Commissioner (Moradabad Division) Anjaneya Kumar Singh said that on the orders of the court, the survey was to be conducted from 7 am to 11 am on Sunday. The team was doing the survey work peacefully. During this, some people gathered and started raising slogans outside the Jama Masjid. When the police tried to stop them, stone pelting started from the crowd. After this arson and firing took place.
He told that three youths have died in this incident, including Kot Karvi resident Naeem, Sarai Tarim resident Bilal and Hayat Nagar resident Numan. Police is preparing to conduct their post-mortem.
He told that police personnel have also been injured in this incident. At present the situation is peaceful and everything is going well. A large number of police force is deployed.
Superintendent of Police Krishna Kumar Bishnoi told that the miscreants have identified the police administration and pelted stones and set fire to police vehicles. Many policemen have been injured in the stone pelting, who have been sent to the hospital. The situation is now under control. The miscreants will be identified and strict action will be taken.
Considering the seriousness of the incident, the police is also keeping an eye on social media. Bareilly Zone ADG Ramit Sharma has also been sent to the spot. Lucknow Police Headquarters is also keeping an eye on the entire incident.
It is noteworthy that the ASI team which had come to survey the Jama Masjid in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh was pelted with stones. The police resorted to lathicharge and fired tear gas shells to control the situation. A large number of police forces are present in the area. Prohibitory orders have been imposed in the district.
