Dwarka, 24 Dec: In Nandgaon, near Rukmin Temple on Nageshwar Road in Dwarka, Gujarat, women of Ahir community created a record in the program of All India Maharas Organization at 8 am on Sunday. More than 37,000 women dressed up in traditional clothes performed Ahirani Maharas.
According to organizers, 37,000 Ahir women from all over the world, primarily from the Saurashtra area, registered to participate in this event. Around 1.5 lakh members of the Ahir Yadav community attended the celebration.
Thousands of people from India and abroad became witnesses of this unique program. Thousands of women of the society together created a world record in this Maharaskar by wearing traditional attire and Navlakhi Chundri with gold ornaments around their necks.
People from America, Canada, Australia, South Africa and Dubai came to see this. People started arriving here from five in the morning. The first lecture was given by Brahma Kumari Didi. After this the religious flag and tricolor were hoisted in the ground.
The women of Ahir community performed Maharas Garba and offered it at the feet of Dwarkadhish Lord Shri Krishna in the form of Raas. It has been claimed that this is a world record in the courtyard of Dwarka. Lord Shri Krishna’s dance with Gopis in Vraj is world famous.
Usha Raas, daughter-in-law of Lord Krishna and daughter of Banasura, played in Dwarka. After this, Garba started in Gujarat.
According to folk legend, about 550 years ago, Shri Krishna came in the form of Dholi to play Raas with the women of Ahir community in Vrajwani, Kutch. Maharas was organized in his memory. A vigil was held the night before Maharas. In this, a play on the Leelas of Shri Krishna written by Malde Ahir was presented.
After this, Vrajvani Raas was presented by Sabhiben Ahir. The women from Kutch created a grand Bedaras. After the presentation of cultural programs, folk litterateur Mayabhai Ahir and other artists of Ahir community presented a grand diara. To make the event memorable, the Jagat Mandir of Dwarka was illuminated with lights.
