Mumbai, March 16: The Customs Department (Customs) team has busted gold smuggling worth Rs 3.67 crore in two cases at Mumbai airport. In this case, the Customs team has arrested four people, including three airport employees.
Customs sources told the media on Sunday that their team searched Pradeep Pawar, an employee of a shop located at the airport, on the basis of suspicion. Gold paste was found in Pradeep Pawar’s pant pocket. After this, during interrogation, Pradeep told that this paste was given to him by a person and he was asked to give this paste to a person named Mohammad Imran Nagori. After this, the Customs arrested Nagori. During interrogation, both of them told that Anshu Gupta, a female employee working at the airport, is also involved in smuggling, so the Customs has also arrested Anshu Gupta.
Sources told that similarly, in another case, another employee working at Mumbai airport has been arrested with gold paste. During interrogation, the employee told that this gold paste was given to him by a foreign passenger. In both these cases, the customs has exposed the smuggling of gold worth Rs 3.67 crore. Intensive investigation of both the cases is going on.
