4 nabbed for robbery of several tonnes of copper and iron in Lucknow

Lucknow, 06 February: Police on Tuesday unearthed the robbery of several tonnes of copper and lacquer from a transformer factory in Chinhat police station area.ย Police have arrested four accused and also recovered the stolen goods.

Deputy Commissioner of Police East Prabal Pratap Singh said that on January 27, information about the robbery was received from factory owner Sanjeev Aggarwal. Sanjeev told that eight to ten miscreants entered the factory and took three employees hostage at gunpoint and took away eight tons of copper. The dacoits must have used a truck to transport such a large quantity of copper. When the employees informed me, I informed the Chinhat police about the incident. The police reached the spot and started their action.

Deputy Commissioner of Police said that information was received that some people were going to Delhi to sell the goods of robbery in Chinhat factory by filling them in DCM. After chasing the miscreants to catch them, the police spotted DCM 20 kilometers from Bareilly. When the police reached near the miscreants, the driver tried to crush them with the DCM, but somehow the police personnel saved themselves and caught the miscreants including the DCM at Fatehganj Western Bypass Bareilly.

Among the arrested criminals are Bareilly residents Salim Mian, Guddu, Ali Hasan and Nand Kishore alias Sagar. 21 sacks of copper, five sacks of iron plates, cartridges with the pistol and the DCM used in the incident have also been recovered from the DCM. The value of the goods has been estimated at Rs 40 lakh.
