Jaunpur, 17 Aug: Five individuals were detained after a video of a rape attempt on a young girl in a hamlet in Uttar Pradesh’s Jaunpur district went viral, police said on Thursday.
According to ASP (Rural) Shailendra Singh, the girl’s mother alleged in the police complaint that she, her husband, and daughter were sleeping on the verandah of the house on the night of August 14 when six youths with whom they had an old enmity came and took away the daughter by rendering her unconscious.
According to the lawsuit, the mother claims that the adolescent was transported to a neighbouring sugarcane field where all of them attempted to rape her.
When her family members arrived at the field after hearing the girl’s screams, the accused fled away while assaulting them.
The mother stated that they did not file a complaint due to public humiliation, but the accused themselves circulated the video of the event online on Wednesday, prompting a case to be filed against six people: Ashish, Vicky, Gore, Pramod, Pappu, and Seshamani.
According to Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma, five of the six defendants in the case were apprehended on Wednesday, with attempts continuing to apprehend the sixth.
