5 held with 8 pistols in illegal arms trade in UP

Baghpat, March 03: The Baghpat police and surveillance team have arrested five people involved in illegal arms trade. Seven 12 bore pistols and one 9 mm pistol have been recovered from the accused. These people were buying and selling weapons through social sites.

The Superintendent of Police (SP) said in a press conference on Monday that the police campaign against those buying and selling illegal weapons is underway. Police, along with the surveillance team, arrested five people on Sunday under a campaign. These include Gautam Budh Nagar residents Ankit, Mohit, Ashish, Dipanshu and Akash. Ankit and Mohit used to buy and sell weapons and post their photos on WhatsApp and Instagram. They used to buy pistols for 35 to 40 thousand rupees and sell them for 50 thousand to two lakh rupees. While the other three used to help them.

SP apprised that they have other accomplices too, whom the police is searching for. Seven 12 bore pistols and one nine mm pistol have been recovered from the accused.
