Burdwan, May 05: Trinamool Congress workers on Saturday night beat three Bharatiya Janata Party workers over hoisting the party flag in Raina area under East Burdwan Lok Sabha seat.

On Sunday, the police said that six people have been arrested in connection with the case. However, the local leadership of the Trinamool Congress has accused the BJP and said that BJP workers were raising provocative slogans in the area. Trinamool workers have tried to make the BJP workers understand. No incident of assault has taken place.

BJP candidate from Burdwan East, Asim Sarkar alleged that some of our workers were hoisting party flags in Hijlana of Raina. At that time, they were beaten up by the Trinamool. We have given a written complaint to the police. The Trinamool Congress has realised that the ground has slipped under their feet in Raina. Therefore, in desperation, they are carrying out such incidents.
