New Delhi, October 26: Since 2016, about 95 percent of land records in rural India have been digitized. Now ownership information will be easily available online. The Union Rural Development Ministry gave this information in a statement issued today.
According to a statement issued by the ministry on Saturday, about 95 percent of land records have been computerized, including more than 6.26 lakh villages. At the national level, digitization of Bhukar maps has reached 68.02 percent. In addition, 87 percent of sub-registrar offices (SROs) have been integrated with land records. The government has extended the DILRMP to 2025-26, adding new features such as Aadhaar-based integration with land records and computerization of revenue courts.
The Digital India Land Records Modernization Program (DILRMP), formerly known as the National Land Records Modernization Program, is fully funded by the central government and was restructured as a Central Sector Scheme in April 2016.
Its main objective is to establish a modern and transparent land records management system by developing an integrated land information management system. The system aims to provide real-time land information, optimize land use, benefit landowners and potential buyers, support policy-making, reduce land disputes, prevent fraudulent transactions, eliminate personal visits to offices and enable data sharing with various organizations.
