Lucknow, 19 August: Targeting the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh, BSP chief Mayawati claimed on Friday that the state was experiencing “jungle raj” and that the drumbeat of development was a ruse.
Mayawati said in a series of tweets in Hindi, “A boat accident on the Yamuna river in Banda killed several people. An undertrial who had been brought to Hapur for a hearing was shot dead, and now there is a painful gangrape incident in Hamirpur. These incidents demonstrate that there is jungle raj in Uttar Pradesh and that the drumbeat of development is a ruse.”
“Overall, lack of judicious use of law in UP, fearlessness among criminal elements are proof of poor law and order. Their (BJP government’s) development is also limited to certain districts, while there is extreme poverty and unemployment in all parts of UP. The government should definitely pay attention to this,” she said.
