Hamirpur bridge tragedy: FIR registered, inquiry panel to submit report within a week, apprises DM

 Hamirpur, May 30: In the case of collapse of a part of the under-construction bridge along with the house in Betwa river in Hamirpur of Uttar Pradesh and death of six labourers , a case has been registered in Kurara police station against Vijay Singh, owner of the bridge construction company and supervisor.

Apart from this, the investigation of the entire case has been given to a three-member team under the supervision of ADM NG.

Dilip Kumar, Project Manager of Setu Nigam Hamirpur, gave a complaint in Kurara police station regarding the bridge accident, on which the police have started investigation by registering a report against Vijay Singh, owner of Kanpur’s private limited company which constructed the bridge, and supervisor Nitis Sachan.

The circle officer (CO) Sadar Rajesh Kamal said on Saturday that a case has been filed against the owner of the bridge construction company and its supervisor.

Meanwhile, district magistrate (DM) Abhishek Goyal has ordered an investigation into the bridge accident. ADM Namami Gange Suresh Kumar has been included on the investigation committee, while the Chief Project Manager of the State Bridge Corporation, Kanpur Zone, and the Superintending Engineer of PWD Banda have been named to the committee. The investigation committee has been asked to conduct a detailed investigation of the accident and submit a report within a week.

The DM stated that the quality and safety standards of the bridge construction work will be thoroughly reviewed. If any negligence is found at any level , strict action will be taken.
