Mainpuri, 9 Oct: In Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district, a pregnant woman who was reportedly raped three months earlier was burned alive. The police have filed a FIR against three people and are attempting to apprehend them. According to the victim’s mother, her daughter was raped three months ago by one, Abhishek, who resides in the same village, but the victim did not tell her family about her suffering. Later, after complaining of acute abdominal pain, it was found that the girl was pregnant. The local panchayat was notified, and the culprit was asked to marry the girl on October 6. The accused’s mother then brought the victim to their home, sprayed her with petrol, and lit her ablaze.

The victim was brought to a district hospital in Mainpuri and then sent to Saifai for specialised treatment after suffering serious burn injuries. The police have filed a case in accordance with sections 307 and 376 of the IPC, as well as relevant portions of the POCSO Act. The culprits are being sought, and arrests will be made shortly, according to the police.
