
Firozabad police detains two minors for stoning Golden Shatabdi carrying RSS chief
New Delhi/Firozabad, June 12: The Firozabad police has detained two minors who threw stones at the Golden Shatabdi Express train wherein the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat was also on board. However, no one was injured in the incident.
According to railway officials, train number 12003 Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi Express was pelted with stones on June 11 at around 7:18 pm as it was approaching Firozabad station under the Prayagraj division. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and relevant authorities launched an investigation. The suspects were identified based on CCTV footage from the station and surrounding areas, following which two accused were arrested.
It is noteworthy that on Thursday evening, some miscreants targeted the Lucknow-New Delhi Shatabdi Express near the Parmeshwar Gate between Makhanpur and Firozabad railway stations. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was also traveling on the train at the time of the incident. However, neither he nor any other passenger was injured in the incident.
Upon arrival at Tundla station, an RPF team inspected the coach and found only damaged exterior glass. Following the incident, police, the LIU, and other security agencies arrived at the scene and began an investigation. Railway officials stated that strict action will continue against those who compromise passenger safety.
Meanwhile, the Firozabad Senior Superintendent of Police Aditya Langhe stated that on June 11, the Railway Inspector-in-Charge reported that train number 12003, the Golden Shatabdi Express, was passing near pillar number 1230/05 of Pameshwar Gate between Makkhanpur and Firozabad railway stations when an unknown person threw a stone at the train, shattering a window pane. Upon receiving information about the incident, a case was immediately registered at Rasulpur police station under the Railway Act.
The SSP stated that he, along with the Additional Director General of Police, Agra Zone, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Agra Range, and the local police team, inspected the scene. A total of 10 police teams, including those from Rasulpur, South, Linepar, SOG, and Surveillance, were formed to investigate the incident. The formed police teams examined CCTV cameras installed nearby. Police teams continuously viewed over 50 CCTV footage. These footage revealed three juvenile delinquents, who were picking up garbage on the railway tracks, picked up a stone from near the tracks and threw it at the Swarn Shatabdi Express train, shattering the glass window of the train.
He stated that the names of three minors have come to light in this incident. Police detained two of them on Friday, and the search for the third is underway.
