Bhadohi, 11 Nov: Thirty one persons, including seven policemen, have been booked on the orders of a local court in connection with a land-grabbing case.
Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar on Friday informed that the incident occurred in Jodhpur village. Six months ago, Qamaruddin filed a petition in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sabiha Khatoon, and the court ordered the registration of a case against 31 people, including seven policemen. The petitioner stated that during a property dispute with Rama Shankar Sharma of the same village, Sharma and other people sought to take his land and beat up his family members.
According to the SP, Qamaruddin said in his complaint that when his family arrived at the police station to file a complaint, the cops reportedly hurled insults at them.
The suspects were identified as Gyanpur’s current circle officer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar Pandey (who was formerly the SHO of Suryava police station), sub-inspector Parshuram Yadav, and constables Manish, Ashutosh, Munesh, Pradeep, and Ghanshyam, he added.
On Thursday, a case was registered under sections of the Indian Penal Code such as 147 (punishment for rioting), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 166 (public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury to any person), and 120B (public servant disobeying law with intent to cause injury to any person) (punishment of criminal conspiracy). The case is being investigated, according to the SP.
