Lucknow, 14 Nov: The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) has issued notices to the forest department for failing to reduce air pollution levels here on Monday.
Dr UC Shukla, regional officer of the UPPCB, stated, “Waste, chiefly leaves and twigs, was apparently burned by forest department workers in the Kukrail forest area. Some burnt leaves were found during a UPPCB check in the last few days, when Kukrail’s air quality index (AQI) had climbed up. Because it is a forest location, the AQI is likely to be lower than in other areas. As a result, a notice has been sent to the DFO, and he has been instructed to prohibit staff from burning forest garbage.”
“Similarly, there have been reports of continual stubble burning in many regions of Lucknow. As a result, the district agricultural officer has been presented with a notice to stop stubble burning.”
According to Shukla, pollution is high in the Talkatora Industrial Area, and a notice has been issued to take immediate action to reduce pollution in the state capital’s industrial sectors.
The Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has already chosen to utilise smoke cannons to reduce pollution levels in some municipal regions. “The LMC will employ smoke cannons to reduce pollution levels in the city,” said Pankaj Singh, additional municipal commissioner.
