Varanasi, 17 Nov: On November 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the month-long ‘Kashi Tamil Sangamam’ at the Banaras Hindu University amphitheatre in his parliamentary constituency.
“The Prime Minister will arrive here in the afternoon to address the inaugural function of the Sangamam, which is being organised by the union Ministry of Education with the larger goal of bringing the two knowledge and cultural traditions closer together, creating an understanding of shared heritage, and deepening the people-to-people bond between north and south India. He will also greet a Tamil Nadu delegation,? Divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma said.
“Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan will also attend the two-hour inaugural function,” he said, adding that “the performances of the artistes of North Central Zone Cultural Centre and South Central Zone Cultural Centre will represent the rich culture of Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.”
“Along with the Prime Minister, representatives of 200 Tamil families who have lived in Varanasi for decades will greet delegations from Tamil Nadu. At the inaugural event, residents from many states and cultures will showcase Kashi’s global culture. Local intellectuals, religious leaders, dignitaries, and people from all wards will also attend the public gathering,? he continued.
The first group of 216 individuals will depart Tamil Nadu on Thursday and arrive at Banaras railway station late Friday night to participate in the inauguration ceremony. The delegation will be greeted with damaru rhythms and a shower of flower petals. Later, they would be taken to hotels reserved by IRCTC.”
