Lucknow, 22 Dec: At a high-level meeting with authorities on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the COVID-19 situation in the state and urged them to monitor the new coronavirus variation, scale up testing, and perform genome sequencing of new cases.

He also requested them to spread the word about the need of wearing masks in busy public venues such as hospitals, buses, train stations, and marketplaces. “It is probable that there may be an upsurge in new cases in the coming days, so we have to remain attentive. “This is not the time to panic; rather, it is the moment to be aware and cautious,” he stated.

According to a statement, at a meeting with Team-9, a team of top officials and ministers formed for Covid-19 management, the chief minister asked them to revive the Integrated Covid Command and Control Room (ICCC) as well as the public speaker system. The meeting is being held in response to the recent surge in cases in China and other nations.

According to the statement, the issue in Uttar Pradesh is under control, and the Covid positive rate in December was 0.01 percent. The state presently has 62 active cases, with no new infections detected in a 24-hour period from 27,208 testing. According to the announcement, 33 persons recovered from the virus within the same time period.

“The transforming trend of Covid should be continuously followed. The Medical Education and Health Departments should better coordinate their preparations,” he stated, urging authorities to keep in close contact with the union Health Ministry.

“The new type of Covid-19 should be regularly checked,” Adityanath stated. ?Whatever additional instances are discovered, their genomes should be sequenced. The frequency of daily testing should be increased. People with serious, incurable conditions, as well as the elderly, will need to take extra care. In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s theme of “Jahan Bimar, Wahin Upchar” (bringing sick people closer to their homes), he suggested that village chiefs, Asha and Anganwadi workers work together to strengthen the state’s Covid response,? he added.

“In the middle of Covid, large-scale work was done for hospital infrastructure expansion. Every district received ICUs, ventilators, and specialty doctors. Ensure the proper operation of medical equipment and the availability of physicians and paramedics at all hospitals. Every hospital, whether in rural or urban regions, should have appropriate resources,” Adityanath remarked.

He also instructed them to develop new roles for expert doctors by reviewing medical institutions’ updated requirements and ensuring the availability of life-saving drugs in the state. He asked authorities to enhance the operation of the Medical Supplies Corporation and suggested that the department’s work be examined at the level of the health minister.

According to the statement, Uttar Pradesh is the most vaccinated state, with around 39.06 crore doses delivered so far, with an additional 4.48 crore precaution doses administered. Given the novel coronavirus variation, the administration of precautionary doses should be accelerated, and people should be made aware of its value, according to the statement.
