Gonda, 21 May: An advocate detained in connection with a land fraud case died in police custody as three cops were suspended on Sunday.
According to an official on Sunday, advocate Rajkumar Lal Srivastava, 60, was charged in a land fraud case filed at Kotwali Nagar police station in 2018. He was taken to the police station last week to be questioned when he died.
According to ASP Shivraj, a case was opened on Saturday based on the allegation of Pawan Kumar Srivastav, the dead advocate’s brother. The in-charge of the Civil Lines police outpost, as well as five to six unknown police employees, are named as defendants in the FIR.
Pawan Srivastava also claimed that police are forcing him to reach a settlement in the case. According to the ASP, the situation is being probed.
