Bengaluru, 15 June: The Siddaramaiah-led Congress party Karnataka Government today decided in a cabinet meeting to quash the Anti Conversion, APMC acts promulgated by the previous Bharatiya Janata Party government.
It also resolved to withdraw all additions made to the school textbooks curriculum and gave a go-ahead for the earlier version.
HK Patil, Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister briefing the media persons about the decisions taken in the cabinet meeting informed of presenting bills in this connection at the ensuing legislature session slated to commence from 03 July.
All amendments approved to the Karnataka Religious Rights Protection Act will be withdrawn while a motion for the same will be moved in the forthcoming Assembly and Council session, he disclosed.
APMC Act also to be withdrawn: Another Minister Shivananda Patil claimed: The objectives of the union Government in amending the APMC Act have failed to materialize while peasants who had pinned high hopes of getting a good price for their produce are disillusioned. Lakhs of people have suffered a lot.
The business turnover of APMC outlets has dipped from Rs 600 crores to 100 crores. Hence, this act is also being withdrawn.
Withdrawal of Text Books Revision: The cabinet meeting has also decided to withdraw the revision of textbooks made during the regime of the previous BJP government.
