Security forces gun down three Kuki militants in Manipur

Imphal, July 24: Three suspected Kuki militants were killed by security forces in two days of tough fighting. Another woman was injured in the struggle.

The encounter took place between security forces, village volunteers, and Kuki militants in the Torbung area under Phougaksao Ikhai police station in Bishnupur district. During this, there was fierce firing.

The woman, who was shot by Kuki militants on Sunday night, is undergoing treatment at Imphal’s Raj Medical Centre.

The injured have been identified as 24-year-old Sehnaz, wife of an MDgrapher of Kwakta Ward No. 1. A bullet-proof vehicle of the Assam Rifles was destroyed in the bomb blast by Kuki militants. Sources said some Assam Rifles personnel were also injured in the blast.

Kuki terrorists torched a school in Torbung and fired at BSF men and women of the 10th Battalion. 16-Kumaon Regiment also reached to assist BSF. Around 9 o’clock in the night, the volunteers of the village also joined the encounter. In this incident, three Kuki militants are claimed to have been killed.

Sources said an ambulance reached the spot two minutes after the Kuki militants opened fire. Kuki militants fired 10 mortar shells at No. 9 Phougakchao Ikhai Awang Leikai Ward. 193 BND stationed at Torbung has said that terrorists are firing mortar shells targeting the CRPF.
