Lucknow, 2 Aug: Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said on Wednesday that the architecture of new commissionerate offices in Varanasi and Gorakhpur should be practical while also showcasing local culture.

The chief minister was addressing at a high-level meeting convened here to examine building development plans. “The commissioner offices in Varanasi and Gorakhpur should be presented as models, and their buildings should be iconic, with designs that showcase local culture,” Adityanath said at the conference.

“With a focus on public convenience, all offices should be brought together in one location. The goal of the Integrated Commissionerate Office is to make it easier to monitor all departments,” he explained. He noted that having all offices under one roof will save them time and effort.

Adityanath emphasised that the structures should be practical and use as little land as possible.

According to him, the Gorakhpur and Varanasi development authorities should guarantee that both integrated offices feature conference rooms, open offices, cubicles, and storage facilities.

Banks, gyms, cafeterias, and parking should all be available at these workplaces.

Once the building is completed, all offices in Gorakhpur and Varanasi should be phased out, and any unoccupied premises should be monetised for commercial use, according to the chief minister.

He appealed for the construction work to be expedited and suggested that the Indian Institute of Technology-BHU collaborate on the construction and design of the Varanasi building.
