New Delhi, 07 August: Home Minister Amit Shah introduced the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill-2023 in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.

The Lok Sabha has passed the bill related to transfer and appointment in Delhi on Thursday itself. It will replace the Ordinance attached to it after it is passed by the Rajya Sabha and signed by the President.

Aam Aadmi Party leader and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal traveled across the country seeking support from various party leaders against this bill.

He also threatened to walk out of INDIA, a coalition of opposition parties, if Congress did not support him. As a result, the Congress opposed the Bill in the Lok Sabha, despite opposition from its local units in Delhi and Punjab.

Opposing the introduction of the bill today, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi opposed the bill. Called it undemocratic and opposed the provisions of the bill. He said that in this the officer has been given more power than the public representative.
