New Delhi, 10 August: The no-confidence motion moved by the Opposition Alliance (INDIA) against the Modi government failed in the Lok Sabha on Thursday.
The no-confidence motion was defeated by a voice vote, as members of the opposition parties walked out of the house when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was speaking.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Congress in the House Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary was suspended from the proceedings of the House pending the report of the Committee of Privileges against his behaviour.
While replying to the discussion on the no-confidence motion, Chowdhury was repeatedly intervening in the middle of the Prime Minister’s speech.
Apart from this, he also tried to link the Prime Minister with a fugitive economic offender. At the same time, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi asked him to take back his words but he did not agree.
In the midst of the Prime Minister’s speech, members of the opposition parties walked out of the House raising slogans.
The opposition was demanding the Prime Minister to speak on Manipur. The no-confidence motion presented at the end of the Prime Minister’s speech also fell by voice vote in the absence of the opposition.
After this, the Speaker questioned the behavior of BJP MP Virendra Singh Mast and Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhary. On this, Virendra Singh Mast apologized to the Speaker and said that he could not tolerate the evil of his leader.
After this, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said that the leaders of the Congress were continuously interfering in the House during the speech of the ministers and the Prime Minister. They keep making allegations without any facts.
He moves that his matter be referred to the Committee of Privileges of the House. Also, until the report and recommendations of the Committee of Privileges are received, he should be kept suspended from the House. This proposal was approved by the house by voice vote.
