New Delhi, August 25: The Supreme Court has adjourned till October 17 the hearing on the CBI’s demand to cancel the bail of Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, appearing for Lalu Prasad Yadav, cited Lalu Yadav’s kidney transplant.

The CBI’s counsel said that Lalu Yadav is fit and playing badminton.

Lalu Prasad Yadav, in his reply, opposed the CBI plea, saying that the High Court order cannot be challenged merely on the ground that the CBI is aggrieved by the decision.

Lalu Yadav has said in his reply that the decision of the High Court is based on general principles and rules, so there is no need to interfere in this order. Lalu Yadav has said that keeping him in custody due to his ill health and old age will not serve any purpose for CBI.

The CBI has challenged the bail granted to Lalu Yadav by the Jharkhand High Court in the fodder scam case of the Doranda Treasury of Jharkhand. Lalu Yadav was also sentenced to five years in jail and fined Rs 60 lakh in the fodder scam case related to the Doranda treasury.

In this case, the Jharkhand High Court granted bail to Lalu Yadav on April 22, 2022, in view of his ill health. Lalu Yadav has been convicted in a total of four cases.
