Lucknow, 28 Aug: Uttar Pradesh Police has filed a FIR against fact-checker and Alt News co-founder Mohd Zubair for allegedly disclosing the identify of a Muslim youngster who was repeatedly smacked by his classmates on the orders of his schoolteacher, who also seemed to make racial remarks.
On Friday, the National Commission for the Protection of Child Rights issued a warning against exposing names, particularly through uploading video of a Class 2 pupil being attacked. Priyank Kanoongo, Chairperson of the NCPCR, encouraged people not to “become complicit in crime by revealing the identities of children.”
Last week, a video of a youngster getting slapped leaked, with opposition lawmakers criticising the governing Bharatiya Janata Party. He stands helplessly with tears pouring down his cheek as instructor Tripta Tyagi makes communal slurs and invites pupils to beat harder.
