President Murmu to confer the National Teachers Award 2023 on 75 selected teachers on September 5.

New Delhi, 02 September: President Draupadi Murmu will present the National Teacher Award 2023 to 75 selected teachers at Vigyan Bhawan on September 5.

The Education Ministry gave this information in a statement on Saturday. It says that every year on 5th September, the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as National Teacher’s Day in the country.

The National Teacher Awards aims to celebrate the unique contribution of teachers in the country and honor those teachers who, through their commitment and dedication, have not only improved the quality of education but also enriched the lives of their students. Each award carries a certificate of merit, a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and a silver medallion. The award winners will also get an opportunity to interact with the Prime Minister.

The Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education has been organizing a national level ceremony every year on Teachers’ Day to present National Awards to the best teachers of the country selected through a rigorous, transparent selection process.

From this year, the scope of the National Teacher Award has been expanded to include teachers of the Higher Education Department and the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This year, 50 school teachers, 13 teachers from higher education and 12 teachers from the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship will be honored.

Nominations were invited in online mode to maximize participation (Jan Bhartiya) with a view to recognize innovative teaching, research, community outreach and innovativeness of work.

The Union Education Minister had constituted three separate independent national juries comprising eminent persons for the selection of teachers.
