New Delhi, 25 September: The Center has extended the stock limit of tur and urad till December 31. Stock limit for wholesalers and large chain retailers in depots reduced to 50 MT.
According to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, the revision of stock limit and extension of time period is to prevent hoarding and ensure continuity of adequate quantity of tur and urad in the market and to make tur dal and urad dal available to consumers at affordable prices.
Additionally, importers will not have to hold the imported stock for more than 30 days from the date of customs clearance.
Apart from this, the concerned institutions will have to declare the stock position on the portal. If they have stock more than the prescribed limit then they will have to bring it to the prescribed stock limit within 30 days of the issue of notification.
Earlier, the government had issued stock limit notification for tur and urad on January 2, 2023.
