New Delhi, 12 Oct: Official sources claimed on Thursday that External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar’s security cover has been increased from the ‘Y’ category to the ‘Z’ level.
According to reports, the union Home Ministry has requested the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to take over his protection, which is currently provided by Delhi Police.
Under the ‘Y’ security category, Jaishankar, 68, was being guarded by an armed team of Delhi Police.
According to insiders, he would now be covered by the CRPF under the greater ‘Z’ category security cover, which includes 14-15 armed commandos roaming with him across the nation in shifts around the clock.
At the moment, the CRPF’s VIP security cover includes union Home Minister Amit Shah and Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
