Ayodhya: 24 lakh ‘Diyas’ to be lit in the presence of Guinness Book of World Records team on Nov 11

Ayodhya, 09 November: Under the guidance of Prof Pratibha Goyal, Vice Chancellor of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Avadh University, the work of decorating more than 24 lakh earthen lamps (Diyas) at 51 ghats by volunteers continued on Thursday to give grandeur to the ‘Deepotsav’.

For this, the university administration appointed 12 observers, 95 ghat in-charges and more than 1000 coordinators at the ghats of Ram Ki Paidi and Chaudhary Charan Singh for the world record. Under their supervision, on the day of Deepotsav, 25 thousand volunteers will light 24 lakh ‘Diyas’ against the target of 21 lakh given by the state government.

At 10 am, the work of laying lamps at the places left on the ghats was started by volunteers from the university, affiliated colleges, inter colleges and voluntary organizations. To make the festival of lights grand, a block of 16 x 16 lamps has been made. In which 256 lamps have been installed.

On the other hand, the incident of Ramayana period has been engraved on ghat number ten and work of decorating lamps has also been done in it. In this festival of lights, a volunteer has been given the target of lighting 85 to 90 lamps.

‘Deepotsav’ Nodal Officer Prof Shant Sharan Mishra said that on November 11, the day of Deepotsav, from 09 am onwards, volunteers will pour oil in more than 24 lakh lamps at 51 ghats, put wicks and light the lamps at the time fixed by the government in the late evening. The work of installing lamps at all the ghats will be completed late in the evening. 24 lakh earthen lamps will be counted by the Guinness Book of World Records team.

He apprised that under the supervision of food committee coordinator Prof Chayan Kumar Mishra, arrangements for refreshments and food have been made for the volunteers at the ghats.Under the supervision of Traffic Committee coordinator Prof Anoop Kumar and Dr Surendra Mishra from the university campus, volunteers were sent by buses from 7 am to Ram Ki Paidi.

He told that entry is not being given on the ghats without Deepotsav identity card. To maintain order at the ghats, inspection is being done by the district administration and Deepotsav officials.
