Deepawali celebration starts with special ‘Bhasma Aarti’ at Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga temple in Ujjain

Ujjain, 12 November: After ‘Bhasma Aarti’ in the early hours of Sunday, auspicious Hindu festival Diwali was celebrated by offering ‘bhog’ and ‘fuljhari’ to the Mahakaleswar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain. Lord Mahakal was given ‘Abhyanga’ bath with hot water in the morning as it was Roop Chaturdashi on Sunday morning also.

In the morning, after Bhasma Aarti, Baba was given special bath, new clothes and special decoration was also done. After this Annakoot Naivedya was offered, the first Diwali is celebrated in Lord Mahakal’s sanctum sanctorum.

From Sunday morning, the influx of devotees started gathering at Mahakaleshwar temple to wish for peace, wealth and prosperity to Lord Shiva known as Mahakal in Ujjain.

Annakoot Naivedya is offered to Lord Mahakal twice on Diwali. The first Annakoot is applied early in the morning by the priest’s family, while the second Annakoot is applied after the morning Bhog Aarti as per the daily tradition.
