New Delhi, November 26: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will leave for Dubai on Thursday evening to attend the COP-28 World Climate Action Summit and will return home on Friday.
He will address the opening session of the summit and participate in three important events, two of which India is co-hosting.
Foreign Secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra gave this information in a press conference on Thursday. He pointed out that climate finance is a very important part of all global efforts to prevent environmental damage. India hopes that COP 28 will agree on a clear roadmap on climate finance.
He informed me that the Prime Minister will also participate in three high-level programs. The first high-level event being jointly organised by India and the UAE is the launch of the Green Credits Initiative. The second event, jointly organised by India and Sweden, is the launch of LeadIT 2.0. It was a joint initiative launched by India and Sweden at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York in 2019.
He added that the Prime Minister will also participate in another high-level event on “Transforming Climate Finance”. It is to be hosted by the United Arab Emirates, President of COP 28.
Kwatra said that the Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with his counterparts on the sidelines of the summit.
