“These people call Kabir Singh violent, I will show them what a violent film is.” Four years ago, director Sandeep Reddy Vanga had responded to his critics with these words in an interview. Now it would not be an exaggeration to say that Sandeep fulfilled his words by giving a film like ‘Animal’ in the year 2023.
Ranbir Kapoor’s much talked about ‘Animal’ has finally been released in theatres, but in reality the film is just an attempt to show what a violent film is.
In fact, it would not be wrong to say that Sandeep has given a different twist to Indian films in ‘Animal’, because Sandeep has tried to show the same things in Hindi without any hindrance, which were shown fearlessly in South films and especially in Telugu.
Certainly this film may hurt many people, there will be objections to its characters, incidents, relationships, equality between men and women. Not only this, we will hear criticism that this will send a different message to the younger generation.
Many people will also be seen gossiping that this can spoil the society, but I want to say one thing about all this that just as the society does not improve through kirtan, similarly it also deteriorates through tamasha.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga said that if you look at it just as a film, ‘Animal’ will give you entertainment in return for your money. You should watch this film without any prejudice and with a little hard heart. Because this film is not for everyone.
As far as the story of the film is concerned, it is the story of a delicate and equally strange father-son relationship, which takes different turns from romance, comedy to revenge drama. Balbir Singh, one of India’s richest and most respected industrialists, is attacked with a deadly attack and Balbir Singh’s son Ranvijay Singh takes the responsibility of finding out who is behind the attack.
On the surface it seems like a simple story, but gradually we realize that it is not so simple. The story and screenplay of this film of about 3 hours 21 minutes is not the best, the film is a bit dull at some places, but still I think Sandeep has managed to maintain the suspense till the last minute.
He said that we have to admit that very careful work has been done with the story, screenplay, dialogues and character development of this film. Although Ranbir is the focal point of the film, the characters around him are equally strong.
Apart from the fact that this film has given justice to this strange father-son relationship, the way Ranbir and Rashmika’s relationship has been highlighted in this film, many thoughts can come to our mind.
Through this love story, it has been highlighted that when you love someone with all your heart, there are no obstacles, no limits in that relationship, of course this is not something everyone can digest. However, there are some limitations in the father-son relationship in the film and Sandeep has presented it very cleverly in the climax scene of Anil Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.
The rest of the music in the film is very different. Basically it follows the story, you get to hear the songs where they are needed. Harshvardhan Rameshwar’s background score is also excellent. Especially the real fun of that background score can be seen during the fight scene between Ranbir and Bobby Deol.
Amit Roy’s cinematography is amazing. Along with this, the action in the film is also quite intense and violent. Especially the 18-minute action sequence before the interval and the post-credits scene after the end of the film are unsettling. This film is not for children as it contains many bold scenes, kissing scenes, abusive language and bloodshed.
In terms of acting, there is also Bobby Deol, but he has no dialogue in the entire film, who is Bobby’s character? What is his background? You come to know all this after the intermission of the film. Bobby’s work is fantastic.
Prem Chopra, Suresh Oberoi, Trupti Dimri and Shakti Kapoor have also performed well. Anil Kapoor’s character seems a bit
weak in the story, but he has done a great job as always. Other co-
stars have also performed well.
