Income tax department send notice
New Delhi,Sep 23 : The Income Tax Department has issued a notice to the wife of Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa. This notice has been sent in the matter of the income as independent director of many companies. According to sources, after Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa took over as Secretary in the Government of India, his wife Novel Lavasa was made independent director of several companies.
It is reported that the Income Tax Department had also questioned Lavasa in this case last week. When Ashok Lavasa was working as environment secretary, Novel Lavasa was a director in 10 companies including the Welspun Group. These 10 companies included 6 Welspun Group of Companies, 2 Tata Group of Companies, 1 Balrampur Chini Mills and 1 Omax Autos. The Income Tax Department had questioned Novel Lavasa about income while being a director in these companies.
