Delhi, 20 December: During the fourth meeting of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive-Alliance (INDI- A), the Samajwadi Party put forth a request to the Congress party to exclude the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) from their alliance in Uttar Pradesh.
This was conveyed by Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, who also stated that his party was willing to form an alliance with the Congress in the state. However, they wanted clarification on whether the Congress was in talks with the BSP for an alliance.
In response, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge assured them that they will contest elections with the Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) in UP.
Other leaders, such as Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal, also proposed Kharge as the prime ministerial candidate for the INDI-Alliance bloc.
The parties also discussed finalising seat sharing talks by December end and holding a nationwide protest over the suspension of 141 MPs on December 22. They also planned to hold public meetings across the country in the coming days to garner support for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
