New Delhi, 26 December: The Samajwadi Party leader Swami Prasad Maurya sparked controversy once again with his recent statement about the Hindu religion.

He claimed that Hinduism is not a religion but a ‘deception’ and a business for a few individuals. He supported his argument by referring to the statements of the Supreme Court, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who have also stated that Hinduism is a way of life rather than a religion.

Maurya further pointed out that these statements do not hurt anyone’s sentiments, but when he says the same thing, it becomes controversial. He made these remarks during an event at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi on Monday.

Maurya also criticised the ruling government for using Dalits and OBCs for votes, but neglecting their rights once in power. He stated that if they truly considered these communities as Hindus, they would not have abolished their reservation rights.

However, SP MP Dimple Yadav, wife of party chief Akhilesh Yadav, distanced the party from Maurya’s statements, stating that they do not support such remarks.
