Delhi/Centurion, 28 December: The South African cricket team has once again prevented the Indian team from winning the Test series at its home ground. In the first Test match played in Centurion, host South Africa defeated India by an innings and 32 runs.
Dean Elgar was chosen man of the match for his excellent batting.
Trailing by 163 runs in the first innings, the Indian team succumbed to the Proteas bowlers in the second innings. The entire team collapsed for just 131 runs. Only Virat Kohli played a fighting inning of 76 runs for India. Whereas Shubman Gill scored 26 runs.
Apart from this, no batsman could even touch double figures while captain Rohit Sharma and R. Four batsmen including Ashwin could not even open their account. Nandre Berger was the most successful bowler for South Africa in the second innings, taking four wickets while Kagiso Rabada got two and Marco Jansen got three.
Earlier, India had scored 245 runs in the first innings with the help of KL Rahul’s brilliant century, in response to which the South African team put the figure of 408 runs on the score board. For
Africa, opener Dean Elgar played a brilliant inning of 185 runs. Whereas Marco Jansen played an inning of 84 runs and David Bedingham played an inning of 56 runs.
Whereas from India’s side, Jasprit Bumrah took the maximum of four wickets and Mohd. Siraj had two shocks. Also, Shardul Thakur, Prasidh Krishna and Ashwin got one success each.
