Lucknow, October 19: Three accused involved in the murder of the Hindu Samaj Party national president Kamlesh Tiwari have been detained, claimed Director General of Police(DGP) OP Singh today.
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, DGP said that the UP Police, with the help of Gujarat ATS, has obtained important clues in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder case. The investigation so far has revealed that Kamlesh Tiwari has been murdered due to a controversial statement he had given against a particular religion in 2015. But the role of any terrorist organization has not been revealed.
He said that three people from Gujarat have been detained in this case, while two more detained suspects have been released by the police. There is no criminal history of the three suspects taken into custody. While, the two main accused who have carried out the incident in Lucknow are yet to be arrested, the police are trying to catch them.
The Director General of Police said that since the murder, it was feared that its wires were connected to Gujarat. We contacted the Gujarat Police on the basis of a box of sweets found at Kamlesh Tiwari’s house. The local police viewed the CCTV footage closely and analyzed it that the incident was done very cleverly.
He said that the team of Gujarat ATS and UP police detained five suspects in this case but two were released. However, those who relased are too under police surveillance. Those detained are being rigorously questioned. Those detained include Mosin Salim Sheikh, who works in a sari shop in Surat, Faizan, who works in a shoe shop, and tailor Rashid Ahmed. All three are being questioned. Rashid Ahmed also has knowledge of computers. In 2015, Kamlesh said something objectionable. This is what Maulana Salim Sheikh provoked Rashid. Faizan was involved in buying sweets for the incident.
Director General of Police said that we are going to do a comprehensive analysis of all these statements. Apart from these, Rashid’s brother and Gaurav Tiwari are the other two left after taking into custody. Gaurav had made a call to Kamlesh Tiwari expressing his desire to join the Hindu Samaj Party. Police are also keeping an eye on these.
The Director General of Police said that till now it has become clear in the investigation that the three suspects taken into custody have been involved in the murder of Kamlesh. They are under questioning. If needed, they will be brought to UP in remand. In addition, Maulana Anwarul Haq and Maulana Mufti Mohammad Kazimi have been detained as conspirators.
Director General of Police said that we are working jointly with Gujarat Police. No terrorist name has been revealed so far. The murder mystery will be revealed soon.
