Lucknow, 23 November: Following the disclosure of the provident fund scam in Diwan Housing Finance Limited(DHFL), the massive demonstration of the Uttar Pradesh’s power workers was postponed on Saturday after talks with the Power Minister Shrikant Sharma at Shakti Bhawan office at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh.
Power Minister, Principal Secretary, UP Government and Vdyut Karmachari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti held talks in Shakti Bhawan, Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, in which the Minister assured to return the money in two-three days.
According to Rajiv Kumar Singh, General Secretary of the Committee, the Minister assured that all the legalities for timely withdrawal of the invested amount in the Dewan Housing Finance Limited(DHFL) from the level of Uttar Pradesh Power Sector Employees Trust and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation CPF Trust Steps will be taken. In addition to this, the investment will be ensured on the receipt of the money back.
Along with this, the Power Minister assured that following the legal process, if any difficulty arises in the withdrawal of the money invested in the DHFL, due to which the trust finds itself incapable in paying the dues amount to the covered employees so to ensure timely payment of dues, the desired amount will be paid primarily by Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL) by its sources.
In the earlier talks, it was clarified by the management that action has been taken for refund of the amount deposited in PNBHFL and LICHFL and this amount will be returned to the trust account in the next two to three days, which will be invested as per rules.
Shrikant Sharma told in the meeting that in this scandal he is fully with the power workers and later himself consider as members of the power family. He also assured that the problems of the power workers and the current problems of the contract workers will be resolved with every possible effort and an atmosphere of fear-free work will be created so that all the employees of the UPPCL can do their work with full intention.
Principal Secretary Energy also made it clear in the talks that no punitive action will be taken against any power employees due to their demonstrations.
On the appeal of the Power Minister and the Principal Secretary (Energy), the Joint Committee on Power Employees has decided to postpone their protest.
