Lucknow, 27 November: The Electricity Department has decided to cut the connections of power defaulters to increase revenue collection. For this, a two-week campaign will be started from November 28.
Arvind Kumar, Principal Secretary (Energy) and Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited(UPPCL), told here on Wednesday that detailed guidelines have been sent to the officers of the distribution corporations regarding the power disconnection drive. It states that recovery proceedings are to be taken against the big defaulters during the campaign.
Mr. Kumar informed that all the officers of the block and subdivision level, under engineers and field employees will participate in the campaign.
The Principal Secretary informed that a target has been set for daily recovery of minimum 250 defaulters for each block. The district administration has been asked to cooperate with full planning in sensitive areas. Also, there is a directive that the areas of big defaulters should be identified earlier.
He informed that all contract workers engaged in line maintenance work will also actively participate in this campaign. All revenue collection centers, CSC counters and other revenue collection facilities will be open from eight in the morning to eight in the evening. Instructions have also been given to the authorities to provide special facility for reconnection of connections on receipt of payment, DC and RC charges from the erring defaulters.
According to the principal secretary, the police rescue team has also been asked to cooperate fully in the electrical dissection work. He informed that smart meter defaulting consumers will not be spared from the campaign as well. It has also been asked to ensure online feeding of disjoint combinations.
It has also been instructed to provide a list of identified consumers in writing to each worker based on the total TG-11 and number of contract workers working in the block for monitoring each dissected combination. It has also been said that if the disconnected connection is found to run even after cutting the connection, then action should be taken against the concerned worker and within 15 working days payment of the disjointed connection should be done and 100% resolved.
The Principal Secretary has said that on receipt of incorrect reporting of the campaign, the concerned Subdivision Officer and Under Engineer will have full responsibility. The campaign will be reviewed regularly by DISCOM. Besides, regular review will also be done from the corporation headquarters. Director Commerce AK Srivastava has been made its nodal officer.
Mr. Kumar informed that easy installment scheme has also been implemented to increase revenue collection of the department and facilitate bill payment to consumers. Under this, a target has been set to provide convenience to 71 lakh consumers across the state.
The Principal Secretary has also told the officials that during this campaign, harassment of consumers should never be done. He has said that if any complaint is received in this regard, strict action will be taken against the concerned.
