Delhi, 6 March: The Delhi Police has taken action against the recent appearance of posters in central Delhi featuring a picture of Prime Minister Narendra Modi with fugitive businessmen Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya.
The posters, with the caption “Modi ka asli pariwar” (real family of Modi) and “Bhartiya Yuva Congress” written at the bottom, have been causing controversy and sparking debates. A senior police officer stated that an FIR has been registered under the Delhi Prevention of Defacement of Property Act against unknown individuals, and the posters have been removed. The case was filed upon the complaint of an official from the New Delhi Municipal Council on Tuesday.
Although the posters did not mention a publisher or individual responsible for putting them up, they have received strong reactions from both the ruling BJP party and the opposition Congress party. PM Modi, in response to RJD’s Lalu Prasad’s “no family” jibe, asserted that 140 crore Indians are his “family.”
In support, the BJP launched a “Modi Ka Parivar” campaign on social media, prompting the Congress to question whether fugitive businessmen Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallya were part of this “family.” This incident highlights the ongoing political tensions and strategic campaigning tactics in India.
