New Delhi, March 07: The Central Government on Thursday increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) of its employees and Dearness Relief (DR) of pensioners by four percent from January 1. Now it has become 50 percent of the basic salary.
The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday approved the proposal to this effect.Â
After the meeting, Union Minister Piyush Goyal told in the press conference that this will benefit 49.18 lakh employees and 67.95 lakh pensioners. This will put a burden of Rs 12,868.72 crore per year on the government exchequer.
