Lucknow, 11 April: A joyous mood prevailed across Uttar Pradesh as Muslims celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr by praying and dining on delicacies on Thursday.
In the state capital Lucknow, the Aishbagh Eidgah in the old city saw a large crowd of people dressed in traditional clothing and exchanging greetings and hugs.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Minister of State for Minority Affairs Danish Azad Ansari, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, and state Congress president Ajay Rai paid a visit to the eidgah and greeted the congregation.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav stated that festivals are celebrated by individuals from many ethnicities and are fundamental to our culture’s identity. “I am hopeful that our merged cultures would propel the country ahead into prosperity,” Yadav stated.
Eid-ul-Fitr concludes the holy month of Ramzan, during which Muslims fast from sunrise until sunset. In addition to Lucknow, significant Eid congregations were witnessed in Kanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad, Prayagraj, Meerut, and Barabanki.
Eid-ul-Fitr namaz was offered in over 31,000 eidgahs and mosques across the state, according to police.
Following the prayers, people flocked to cafes and restaurants serving delectable food, as well as to their neighbours, friends, and relatives, where they enjoyed sweet milk-based sweets such as ‘sewai’ and ‘kheer’.
According to information given by the state police headquarters, suitable security procedures have been put in place throughout the state in anticipation of the celebration.
To manage traffic, local authorities in most areas implemented alternate route diversions.
Police claimed 2,933 critical spots in the state have been identified, and drones and high-powered CCTV cameras have been deployed to monitor the regions around mosques and crowded marketplaces, despite the fact that no untoward event has been recorded anywhere.
