Lucknow, 13 April: In the fifth phase of Uttar Pradesh, the contest for Lucknow Lok Sabha seat seems to be between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Samajwadi Party (SP). While the country’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh is in the electoral fray from BJP, Ravidas Mehrotra is from SP. MLA Pankaj Singh and Neeraj Singh, both sons of BJP candidate Rajnath Singh, have taken charge of the election campaign, while SP candidate Ravidas Mehrotra is also actively engaged in the campaign with all his heart and soul.
SP candidate Ravidas Mehrotra had won the assembly elections from Lucknow Central seat in the year 2022. Rajneesh Gupta, the candidate contesting the assembly elections from BJP, had lost the election. After getting the Lok Sabha ticket in 2024, Ravidas Mehrotra first made a program of contacting his voters of Lucknow Central to woo them. In which Ravidas started evening meetings by involving local leaders and roaming with them.
Lucknow West Assembly was once held by BJP. In the last assembly elections, SP’s Arman won from West Assembly. SP MLA Arman is also busy making equations to make his party candidate Ravidas win. About 60 to 65 meetings have been held in favor of the SP candidate in the two assemblies of the city, Lucknow Central and West.
SP candidate Ravidas Mehrotra has also intensified contacts in Cantt Assembly and North Assembly. Former SP candidate from North Assembly Pooja Shukla is holding talks and meetings with booth workers. Apart from the old face of SP, spokesperson Ashutosh Verma is also campaigning in Lucknow East Assembly.
Rajnath Singh, BJP’s candidate for Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, is currently the Defense Minister of the country. According to the political stature of Rajnath Singh, there is no count of the number of his supporters in the entire country including Lucknow. Still, faces associated with BJP’s metropolitan team are holding booth management meetings day and night for BJP candidate Rajnath Singh.
In this, the main role of BJP’s metropolitan president Anand, MLA Neeraj Bora, MLC and election coordinator Mukesh Sharma, co-convenor Pushkar Shukla, Ghanshyam Aggarwal Gudda, Trilok Adhikari has been seen.
Rajnath Singh’s two sons, MLA Pankaj Singh and Neeraj Singh, are recognized as active faces in BJP. MLA Pankaj Singh is currently the state vice president while Neeraj Singh is associated with BJP workers right down to the street in Lucknow. After Pankaj Singh and Neeraj Singh took charge of the Lucknow election campaign, there is enthusiasm among the workers till the booth level.
Neeraj Singh and MLA Pankaj Singh are holding election meetings in the two assembly seats held by SP in the city, Central and West. So that the voters who voted for BJP can be thrown out of their homes on the voting day. To boost the morale of the booth workers, Neeraj Singh is talking directly to everyone.
By the year 2024, there has been development in Lucknow and a new picture has been seen. During Rajnath Singh’s tenure as MP, Lucknow has been gifted with new flyovers, gyms in parks, outer ring roads and new machines in hospitals. BJP officials are being found campaigning by making a list of MP’s development works.
At the same time, SP candidate Ravidas and his campaign workers are seen enumerating the development works of former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s government.
