New Delhi, May 26: The Delhi Police has arrested the hospital owner and another doctor in the Vivek Vihar hospital fire case.

The Vivek Vihar hospital where the incident took place late Saturday night was being run without a license. When Vivek Vihar police station initially registered a case of death due to negligence and started investigation, many irregularities were found in the hospital’s operation. On this basis, instead of death due to negligence, police has now registered a case of culpable homicide and attempt to culpable homicide.

Police has registered a case and arrested the hospital owner and another doctor. The accused have been identified as Dr Naveen Khichi (45) and BAMS doctor Akash (26). Dr Akash is a resident of Charkhi Dadri. Police is investigating the case by interrogating the arrested accused.

Shahdara District Deputy Commissioner of Police Surendra Chaudhary said that during the investigation, when the team investigated the hospital’s license, it was found expired. Apart from this, the hospital was allowed to run a hospital with only five beds by the Delhi Government’s DGHS department. In violation of this, a 12-bed hospital was being run.

During the investigation, the police did not find a single fire extinguisher cylinder from the hospital premises. Apart from this, no emergency exit was made to exit the building in case of any accident. On the other hand, a specialist doctor is needed for a children’s hospital, but despite this, Dr. Naveen had hired Ayurvedic doctor Akash.

Delhi Fire Service has not yet clarified whether the hospital has the NOC of the fire department or not, although Fire Department Director Atul Garg has expressed the possibility of not having the NOC. Police is also investigating this. Officials say that strict action will be taken against both.

Let us tell you that Dr Naveen, along with his wife Dr Jagriti, runs four hospitals named Baby Care New Born in Vivek Vihar, Punjabi Bagh, Faridabad and Gurugram. At present, the fire department, crime team, FSL and other investigation agencies have started the investigation. In the initial investigation, the cause of the fire seems to be a short-circuit.
